Kings Dominion Celebrates a Significant Milestone!

This is the year of theme park celebrations, and Kings Dominion, not to be outdone, is also celebrating a significant milestone. It’s the 50th Anniversary Season in 2025 for Kings Dominion Doswell!

The park is pulling out all the stops for a year filled with new thrills and celebratory events.

The undisputed highlight of Kings Dominion’s 50th anniversary season is the arrival of Rapterra, a groundbreaking addition that claims the title of the world’s tallest and longest launched wing coaster! This exhilarating family-thrill coaster will catapult riders to a speed of 65 mph in just four seconds before soaring to a height of 145 feet and navigating a 3,086-foot-long track featuring three inversions. While the official public opening is slated for this summer, eager passholders were treated to an exclusive night on March 28.

To further commemorate its golden anniversary, Kings Dominion is hosting a “Golden Summerbration” event, which kicks off on May 24 and continues through August 3. This summer-long extravaganza promises a vibrant and festive atmosphere throughout the park. Guests can look forward to live entertainment, including the highly anticipated return of the beloved Clown Band, whose zany antics delighted park-goers in years past.

As the sun sets, a brand new nighttime spectacle, “Light the Night”, will illuminate International Street, celebrating 50 years of Kings Dominion thrills. Adding to the celebratory spirit, the park’s famous Singing Mushrooms will return with an all-new setlist of tunes. Throughout the season, guests will also find new and exclusive merchandise recognizing Kings Dominion’s rich history, along with unique food and beverage items that pay homage to the park’s past.

Kings Dominion’s strategy of aligning its 50th anniversary celebration with the launch of a major new coaster and a dedicated summer event mirrors the approach taken by Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The ‘Golden Summerbration” promises to infuse the park with a festive energy, creating a memorable experience for visitors.

For those looking to beat the summer heat, Soak City Waterpark at Kings Dominion will officially open for the season on May 24, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Guests can enjoy a wide array of water attractions, including a thrilling wave pool, exhilarating water slides, and the family-friendly Coconut Shores area, ensuring a splash-tastic summer for everyone.

In a gesture of appreciation, Kings Dominion will also be hosting Military Days from May 23 to 26, offering free admission to active military personnel and veterans. This event coincides with the opening of Soak City and the start of the “Golden Summerbration”, creating a vibrant and bustling atmosphere at the park over the Memorial Day weekend. This strategic timing aims to attract a diverse range of visitors and maximize attendance during a key holiday period.
